Chapter One :Chapter 1

Raelynn Baker, a beautiful young woman in a T-shirt and jeans, stepped out into the bustling train station.

Her hair gently swayed with each step, framing a face that seemed to radiate warmth.

Her big brown eyes searched for someone - a man from the famous Ball family, the husband she was to marry.

Yet, she had never met him before.

Having spent her life in the countryside, it was only a month ago that her grandfather had insisted she agree to an arranged marriage, citing his failing health as the reason.

She had immediately refused, knowing full well that her grandfather was in excellent health.

However, her grandfather was not one to give up easily.

Raylene, determined to maintain some control over her own fate, set a condition for the marriage.

If, after three months, she had not fallen in love with that man, she would be free to cancel this ridiculous marriage.

...

"Hello! Miss Baker, Raelynn Baker, right? I'm the chauffeur from Ball family."

Raelynn nodded in response and followed the chauffeur to the car casually. She was already exhausted from the long trip.

On the way to the manor, the driver glanced at Raelynn through the rearview mirror.

This woman was Jose Ball's fiancee.

Jose Ball was the most eligible bachelor in the city, just in his twenties, he was already the CEO of Ball Group.

Jose's grandfather, Colton Ball, arranged this marriage many years ago.

A country girl, and a young CEO. The driver couldn't help but sigh in his heart. This girl's gonna have a hard time with the Balls.

They were not some kind of nice, friendly in-laws.

...

As the car arrived at the Ball family's house, the chauffeur helped Raelynn with her luggage.

But when she stepped into the house, she was met with disdainful glances from a well-dressed lady standing at the door.

"Emma!" she yelled.

"Yes, Mrs. Ball."

The servant, Emma, got the hint and sprayed disinfectant all over Raelynn's body, including her shoes and hair.

The order-sender was Jose's mother, Ruth Jenkins.

Raelynn couldn't help but feel insulted by their behavior.

"What is wrong with you?" she retorted, covering her nose with her hand.

Ruth became angry and insulted Raelynn's lack of education.

"I thought you would at least be well-behaved. But, look at you, huh? I'm doing this because I don't want you to bring any viruses or bacteria into this household. Do you want us to get infected with whatever you are carrying?"

"Then you should spray your mouth with some disinfectant as well, coz your mouth stinks!" Raelynn bit back with sarcasm.

"How dare you! You... oh my..." Ruth pointed at Raelynn with a trembling hand.

Ignoring Ruth's anger, Raelynn walked straight into the house, and she met a girl in the living room who was eyeing Raelynn from head to toes.

"Oh my god, look at her cheap clothes and worn-out suitcase, was it from your grand grand grand father? Ruth, she is a bumpkin, no wonder she looks like a cheap girl."

"Yeah, we are a kind family to accept this uneducated girl into our house. Charlotte, stay away from her. She smells stinky. Your cousin will never like such a filth like her." Ruth covered her nose and walked to Charlotte, Jose's cousin sister.

"So you're Jose's fiancee?" Charlotte sneered.

"Grandpa is really old and has no taste. Oh my god! She came here by what? A train? What is that? You should have told us earlier. That way, we can buy you a flight ticket. But wait, you don't have an airport in the countryside, right?"

Raelynn, with her eyebrows raised, looked at Charlotte as if she were looking at an idiot, realizing that everyone in the Ball family was arrogant and foolish.

There was indeed no airport where she came from, but her grandfather had booked an entire train just for her. These arrogant people had no idea that she traveled as luxuriously as someone who flew first class.

But, Raelynn didn't want to waste her time to explain everything.

She ignored Charlotte, and asked the maid where her room was.

Before the maid could answer, Charlotte stepped forward and said, "Here."

As Raelynn entered the room, she heard Charlotte add, "Look at this room. I doubt you've ever stayed in a such a luxury bedroom like this one. Cherish your luck, bumpkin. I am Jose's cousin. You should also fawn over me."

Raelynn ignored the jibber-jabber and slammed the door shut with a loud bang.

"Ouch, my nose. How dare that pauper be so arrogant? What was Grandpa thinking?" Charlotte muttered angrily.

The maid approached hesitantly and inquired, "Miss, but isn't this Mr. Jose's room?"

Charlotte shot a disdainful glance at the door. "Hush! Don't tell her. Jose despises anyone using his possessions or invading his space. If he learns that she's here, just inform him that she selected this room."

As Charlotte spoke, her eyes glinted with cunning.
